Female state prison
Now she is a prisoner here in the Female State prison since two month, sentenced of after driving drunk causing an accident with many injuries. The judge wanted to set an example and punished her hard, twenty years of prison. She was cared and desperate, later they made her an offer: Her sentence would be reduced by half if the conditions of her prison stay would be harsher. She agreed without a thought and has to stay in this special part of the prison, deep down the surface, for ten years. She lives now in a small single cell, with no privacy, furnished with a plank bed and toilet. The door was made by bars, so the guards can watch her all the time, using the toilet, cleaning herself and being nude during the washing every morning. But more molesting to her is the fact that she is barefoot all the time, since the day of her the intake. They made her to strip completely and handed over to her the prison uniform, a pair of wide pants and this ugly sweatshirt. There was underwear nor footwear and the guards explained her that it not allowed to the inmates in this part of the prison. Usually being barefoot never was a problem for her, she has enjoyed it until now. But in the prison, things were different. Her bare feet are unprotected and vulnerable now, so she started to move more slowly than she was used to be, without wearing a restraint, her tender soles now tormented every day by the cold concrete floor of the cell, and each day she has to leave the cell, walking along endless floors and hallways, and climbing many stairs made from hard metal grid. Her feet started to ache, every step was painful, especially outside, when she had to walk around in the compound for one hour as physical activity. Unfortunately the surface was covered with small sharp-edged gravel stones. Her feet are adapting slowly to their new life, her soles had become calloused now, and really dirty, even when she tries to clean them, only a small amount of dirt can be washed away, the rest has just penetrated in the skin. Within a few months, her soles will turn completely black like they have done in other prisoners, she has watched them outside.
Another problem for her are these ugly cuffs that she has to wear. Her ankles remains permanently shackled, by normal cuffs connected with a chain which is 30 cm long. In the morning after sleeping nude in the night, they unlock the cuffs, for a few seconds, so she can put on a new trouser. She wears these cuffs really all the time. Her wrists instead are cuffed only half of the time, mostly during the night. So she is able to eat and drink, wash herself and take her clothes on or off. The cuffs are closed as tight as possible. The metal cuts in the skin slightly so she tries to avoid every movement of her hands and fingers. After removing the cuffs, deep impressions remain in the skin for hours. After two months of treatment, there is a swollen painful ring of swollen and redden skin around every wrist. Her feet are even worse. The permanent pressure of the cuffs has damaged the skin around the ankles, it is not only swollen and painful, but yet bruised with sores around her ankles. She is able to move the shackle, to change its position a few millimeters up and down. This maneuver helps a little bit, but the area of damaged skin is now brighter than the width of the metals surface of the cuff. Small crusts appear at the undiscovered, bruised skin, but they are rubbed away by the cuff when it is moved by here to this area. So the skin at her ankles is permanently swollen and inflamed at a width of two centimeters. Every step is painful now. She is desperate, she has to spend many years like this!
