I'm in a continuing state of hopelessness for my future of myself, of America, and of the world.

We keep going down the drain, we just do not get it don't we? We're getting closer to world government, less freedom, and total market collapse. Makes me doubt there's a god, if there was, he would have saved us from this rut.

I'm just so sad for the state of my species, I have to include myself too. I'm so tempted to just kill myself to not see this bleak future I already see in my head. Ron Paul is our only hope probably, but I can see him getting assassinated once he becomes p********...

I just wish things were different.

World gov. is inevitable. It's just going to happen long after anyone living or even soon to be born will be gone. And I can imaging it being a good thing if done right. After thousands of years of inter breeding we'll all be one race after a while. And most likely look like the grey aliens anyway. So by then it'ss just make sense.

Have you lost your mind? NO TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME for world Govt.. And it's coming long after anyone living is gone. By the end of this year we will see there strongest push to date. Many will die most likely. But i rather die then live oppressed as a slave..A hybrid form of Marxism is their final goal and it doesnt matter if it's a Nazi flavor of socialism or a Stalin style communism they both have 1 thing in common and that is a lot of dead citizens. There is no war on terror but there is a war of terrorism against us by our own Govt. There already is a European Union and a horribly failed and flawed orginization called the U.N., which if it were a private company, would have been disolved LONG ago. With the foundation already in place from orgainizations like these and the new "world economy", I think your oppressive, civil-rights stealing, one world government will be here much quicker then you said.

....You're kidding right? The Invisible Hand has stood the test of time of being completely factual in capitalism. Here are three examples (that are not from me but I agree with them):

None of your examples have anything to do with the notion of the invisible hand, which refers to the pursuit of interest by individuals unintentionally resulting in the general good. It's not about the benefits of obeying the traffic laws, the success or failure of consumer goods, or the pricing of same. If this is the level of understanding of classical economics of the Paulites, we're in more trouble than I thought.

Definition from Investopedia:
"Thus, the invisible hand is essentially a natural phenomenon that guides free markets and capitalism through competition for scarce resources."

Definition from Wikipedia:
"In economics, invisible hand or invisible hand of the market is the term economists use to describe the self-regulating nature of the marketplace."


I don't see "unintentional" in the definition from Wikipedia and Investopedia, therefore I don't see the point in calling it unintentional because it ISN'T. But, regardless, you have said basically the same definition commonly accepted. It doesn't have to be unintentional though, because they're is no example of an unintentional change in the economy! Changes are always done for a reason, or have a cause, in the economy!

The first example has to do with saving money. The second example has to do with making money. The third example is a mixture of both. The economy, thereby, regulates itself, meaning no mandates have to be made. All of those examples are intentional, but they regulate and balance the economy for the buyer and the seller still. Understand?

You get your information from Wikipedia. I get it from "The Wealth of Nations". Here's Adam Smith:

Okay, I'm back. I just don't understand how you can say that there isn't a possible example of the Invisible Hand. How is capitalism NOT self-regulating? It sounds like common sense.

On the other stuff, Ron Paul is a politician yes, but I can tell that he is sincere about his conviction. That's just what I think. You really can't say a lick bad about him, there is no examples of corruption from him.

Self-regulating, yes, but that's not the fundamental import of the invisible hand concept. It's about self-interest yielding the public good regardless of the actor's intention. As I note below in a later post, that's the foundation of free-market political theory (keeping the do-gooders from interfering with the market and preventing it from optimizing the outcome). That's the theory, anyway.

So far as Ron Paul goes, he might be sincere. If so, he's ahead of most politicians. But he's a fringe candidate, always has been, and always would be if he weren't 76 years old. He's a fringe candidate because the overwhelming majority of the electorate, for various reasons, don't believe that the "invisible hand" will deliver an outcome that they want.

Star wars future would be nicer-ish. Cause then you would have many other species to try and mate with. Still the movies showed how corrupt politics lead to a corrupt govt.

I can also see the arguement of many who strive for peace always getting the head person assassinated.

Let me tell you something about Ron Paul. And this cannot be disputed. The man is first and foremost, "Human". That alone makes him suspect in my eyes. Sure he talks a good game, but look at him. He's obviously human. Everybody knows humans can be manipulated, and controlled. Fucking cave men did it, and we've been honing the craft of controlling the week little bastards ever since, (and when I say we, I am referring to us other humans). So he's human... Based on that information alone, you should know, he cannot be trusted. Even if he tries to do good, he'd probably fuck it up, and blow up the world.

But to make matters worse, he's also a politician!! Now if the first strike doesn't make you nervous, the 2nd one fucking should. The last mother fucker you want running a country, is some mother fucker who wants to rule the country. And anybody will tell you, every single politician, with the possible exception, (but it does seem unlikely), of Jesse Ventura, is a fucking lying thief, with no other purpose than to keep the wool pulled over the eyes of the sheeple, while they and all their cronies prepare for the great culling.

It's been proven time and time again, and if he wasn't willing to play ball, he wouldn't be in the game.

We are fucked. Ron Paul is no last hope. We don't have a last hope. We spent our last hope at Wall-mart, and Costco, and on iphones, ipads, and fake tits. We watched our last hope go up in smoke with all those bong hits that kept us on our sorry asses throughout our youths, beating off and playing video games, instead of paying attention, and being active. We swallowed our last hope with the hand full of antidepressants, we allow them to sell us on TV, and the toxins we allow them to put in our foods. Our last chance has come and gone, and if you think some lying, greedy, power hungry politician is going to give it back, you are sadly mistaken...

Well us younger folks are. But anyways another scary thing is that this generation is a weak one. People are coming mor People are becoming more narcissistic and I think Facebook is a big cause of that. We are doing it to ourselves. Nothing is private anymore and Look at these occupy wallstreet people that make me sick. They are just want a be hippies. But us as a generation now just don�t cut it like in WW1 and WW2. The greatest generation ever. I don�t see much patriotism anymore or caring about fellow man. It�s all about me me me and feelings or people getting offended. God the list can go on for ever. Im starting to just ramble on and on and I keep getting pissed. Im going to rap this up cause im getting so mad about how we are going down the drain. Ah ur right. We should be pissed. So given the %50 chance that a God does exist. You are aware that he would not take kindly to you completely denying his existence, right? If theres anything about atheists that truely irritates me, its the stubborn way on how sure they are of themselves. Especially with science being so extremely limited and the fact that there are numerous documented cases that science hasnt been able to explain. I can surely understand someone stance and point being "i dont know, and im not sure". But to blantantly & outright deny God's entire existence in as a whole, could only come from the mind of a complete and utter fucking fool.

It�s a shame that the Ron Paul supporter conceded defeat so easily. There are interesting and important questions that Paul�s campaign raises with particular clarity. The question of intentionality is an important one, because it�s really fundamental to laissez-faire theory. It�s because it�s claimed that the market synthesizes many individual self-interests into the public good without conscious planning (invisibly, as it were), that interference in the market, even with good intentions, is said to be actually harmful. That�s the foundation of free-market theory from Smith, through the classical school, Hayek, Popper, and Friedman, to Paul. The big question, of course, is, is it true? Preliminarily, how could we tell that it�s true? In some form or other, that�s the question that�s being put to the American electorate this year. I�d like to hear some Paul supporters give us some answers.

A very intellectual discussion here, but I doubt it holds any weight to the average person. most people probably never herd of "the invisible hand". Metaphors are just a tool to the intellectualist to describe something and cloud the meaning to the mentally challenged. I'd say that you're short-changing the ordinary person. There may be some very esoteric subjects such as higher mathematics and physics that are beyond the grasp of most of us, but I think that most people are capable of understanding basic economics and social theory. Those who are intransigently ignorant won't learn it, of course, but most people of ordinary intelligence can learn it if they work at it. One thing is certain, if they persist in letting intellectuals or anyone else carry them forward, they're going to continue to be exploited.

I can walk down my street right now and ask everyone I meet along the way and ask them about this term economists use and probably just get a strange look back from them. I can take a pole in the whole city and probably not get much over a 55% response from the populous.

My son took business classes in college and I helped him at times on his homework. I found that economics is made waaaayyy more complicated then it needs to be, no wonder we are so screwed up! Economists in my opinion take a simple 1+1=2 and turn it into an algebraic equation. I doubt half the economists even know what they are talking about.

Speaking of the American people, the rate of ignorance is indeed appalling. I was speaking of the potential of ordinary people, not what our social system has actually produced. Historically, the transformation of poverty-stricken, ignorant immigrants into skilled workers, merchants, and professionals was one of the greatest success stories ever. But as the original poster suggests, we've lost our way. The material is there. Americans are no less capable of learning than they've ever been. But the vision and the will seem to have been lost.

As a species we may be smarter then we were thousands of years ago but SOME of us outshine the majority. If I may carry on with your... in agreement, altitude. The puzzle to this world was already created. The pieces to complete it are missing from the box..dropped and fell from the table. It is there in full view but you can't see them without help. It is to be found but with others looking for those pieces, the room becomes more crowded , smelly and the food becomes scarce. The toilet is backed up and starts overflowing. The neighbors don't know what the hell is going on and they call the authorities. Carry on.

Many people in economic distress Zagg? I must be missing something because every time I look on the roads I see most people driving 10-20 grand vehicles. Even some �poor� people are doing it, selling drugs. When I see people riding in horse drawn carts then I�ll believe you. A lot of people can afford their own insurance as well as make the payments on their nice house and vehicle. True a lot of U.S. citizens are living beyond their means, in true U.S. fashion just like the government. Compared to some people in the world that have to get their water out of polluted streams and lucky to get a meal every day while we fucking Americans (I don�t know about the Europeans) throw out good food at the end of a McDonalds day.

Democrats like Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer & Anthony Wiener wanted more "poor" & "disadvantaged" to own homes like the "rich". Instead of staying out of private enterprise and letting it work like it has to the benefit of people for the last 250 years, they instead used force with the heavy hand of the Federal Gov't. to make Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae give subprime loans to millions of people that couldn't afford them, and couldn't pay them back. The rightwingers have been pillorying Obama for two years for failing to bring the rate down. They claim that they're concerned about "jobs, jobs, jobs" and that the pres*dent that has failed to provide enough of them should be chucked out of office. Apparently this is a misimpression. ^^I agree that something must be up with unemployment zagg, one only has to look in the want adds in the newspaper. I haven�t paid much attention to that shit because its not a problem for me, however, I did look in the paper a few months back, and what I remember as a 4-5 page section has turned into a 1-2 page section with half of it non-job related.
If I were elected I would stick to the big corporations who in their billions a year incomes, care only about profit, profit, profit, as they discuss at their meeting tables every day (corporate entities, gotta love em!�yea right). Denouncing them as traitors to their country, I would lock them out from doing business in the U.S. unless they moved their power bases back into the country. And if they refuse, then they can see how much profit they make in other countries based on other countries buying power vs. their cheap labor! Also locking them out would give breathing room for the small business owners to grow, and create more jobs as well! But before I do all this I would have created trade deals with other regions of the world to insure an import/export base for the NEW growing businesses.
Does that make me a �right wing�? �Left wing�? Dictator? I could fucking care less about those political terms, you do what you need to do for the benefit of the country!

The funny thing about the unemployment rate is the economists (who's expertise is paid for by the u s government) try to sell this illusion that although the rate hasn't dropped but 2% those of us that have jobs, jobs we are doing for lower wages than we made 10 years ago although cost of living skyrockets, shoul be ok since most businesses are no longer on loan lifelines from the banks. But don't expect your wages to increase. To me that is saying, "hey you broke bastards have no choice but to except these lower wages because if you don't someone else will do your job for even less". Only one real solution. Time for a revolution

And you make sure your programs that generate income are in balance with those that take away from your generated income.
